A comparative study of circuit for Piezo-electric energy harvesting

This paper investigates different energy harvesting system extracting energy from the environment and converting that energy into electrical energy. It gives a description of possible ways of extracting energy and compares various methods with major focus on Piezo-electric energy harvesting. Different circuit techniques are used for harvesting energy from piezo electric energy harvesters are discussed in this paper in order to provide a complete overview of state of the art harvesting circuits. These circuits consist of both linear and nonlinear energy extraction methods. This paper describes impedance adaptation, synchronous serial harvesting on inductor and synchronous charge extraction techniques and also circuit development being made on these existing circuit techniques in both linear and non linear implementation in order to improve their circuit performance. Circuit simulation for energy harvesting circuits are carried out in order to provide a complete analysis to determine the best energy harvesting circuit technique.
