Commissioning and operational experience for the 135000 HP adjustable speed drive at NASA's national transonic facility

The world's largest adjustable speed synchronous motor drive system is now operational at NASA's National Transonic Facility (wind tunnel). The successful activation of this newly installed system was achieved through structured factory tests and a comprehensive commissioning plan. Data from the commissioning tests are presented. The tests validate the design, characterize the operational envelope, and demonstrate that performance requirements were met.
