Performance curves of a series DC motor predicted using parametric finite element analysis

A procedure is derived that uses finite element analysis to predict the performance curves of a typical series DC motor. A number of different analyses are made with parametric variations of current and rotor position. The computed torque-speed and current-speed curves are shown to agree closely with the measured curves.
