Microprocessor automation of bipolar electrocoagulation

The heat produced by high frequency A.C. current, for example 500 KHz modulated by 10 KHz could coagulate proteins and produce hemostasis. Practically this characteristic is used in microsurgery to coagulate vessels hugged between tweezers' tips. The electric and thermic constants of tweezers are being higher than these of tissues, consequently the important temperature elevation on tweezers' tips may cause the carbonization of tissues which are in contact with them. In this paper an analytical model of temperature field in tissues and on the tweezers is described. It takes account of electrical field between the tweezers, and underlines the necessity to regulate their temperature. The knowledge of this physical process allow to elaborate an efficient current loop control drived by microprocessor.
