Four-wave mixing and bistability in a semiconductor laser under intermodal injection

Intermodal injection in a GaAlAs-semiconductor laser leading to nearly degenerate four-wave mixing is investigated experimentally and by computer simulation. The four-wave mixing regime is shown to be asymmetric and bistable with respect to frequency.
