Predictive current control of the three-phase inverter in a stand-alone wind energy system

This paper describes a current control of the three-phase inverter in a stand-alone wind energy system using model predictive control (MPC). The system includes a wind turbine without the use of a gearbox, a permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG), a pure diode based three-phase rectifier and a three-phase voltage-source two-level inverter. The simulation results obtained by using MATLAB/Simulink show that the MPC algorithm always results in the consistent output currents despite of the variation of the wind speed.
