Abstract:

Saturable reactors are devices with magnetic nonlinearity and they can be used in power transmission lines for a voltage and reactive power control. Depending on saturation principle they can be divided on DC controlled reactors (DCCR) or AC saturated reactors (ACSR). Magnetic nonlinearity generates the higher harmonics and, therefore, the important problem of such reactors is the higher harmonics suppression. In this report some study results are presented for DCCR with the improved waveform of main current.
