An iterative reconstructed method for CNTs-enhanced breast tumor detection in microwave induced thermo-acoustic tomography

Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) enhanced breast tumor detection have been proposed to mitigate the low contrast between the tumor and the glandular tissue in the microwave induced thermo-acoustic tomography (MITAT). In this paper, we discuss an iterative reconstruction method (IRM) to tackle the issue of defocusing due to the acoustic heterogeneity of the dense breast underlying the CNTs-enhanced MITAT. The result indicates that the joint method can provide an effective procedure for CNTs-enhanced breast tumor detection in microwave induced thermo-acoustic tomography.
