MoM solution of various electromagnetic problems using fuzzy pulse basis function

This paper presents a framework for method of moments (MoM) solution using overlapping fuzzy pulse basis functions (FPBF), a generalization of the standard crisp pulse basis function (CPBF) having no overlap, on rectangular mesh. We consider fuzzy sets having compact support radial basis function (RBF) as membership function. Unlike CPBF, FPBF is shown to provide much more accurate result with smooth interpolation between the values of the field, attained in the fuzzy sets of the adjacent subdomains. The proposed approach is applied in scattering from a semi-infinite metal strip having analytical solution to benchmark and capacitance extraction are solved using this technique. In the scattering problem, the mean square error, obtained using forty one CPBFs is achieved using only five FPBFs.
