Shaping the flow of light based on abrupt phase discontinuities operation in high order modes

Shaping the flow of light based on abrupt phase discontinuities operation in high order modes is investigated. As a proof-of-concept, we design two types of super cells consisting of V-shaped antennas with phase shifts covering 2*2π and 3*2π. The simulations show that the linear gradient phased metasurfaces using the new designed super cells can exhibit exceptional abilities for light-steering functioned as meta-echelette gratings operating in high order diffraction modes. This results could lead to wide applications in photonic research.
