Medical robotics for pediatric applications shoulder arthrography, ankle rehabilitation, and temporal bone surgery

Medical robotics is an evolving field with a 30-year history. While most research and commercial activity has focused on adults, there has been some work in pediatrics. This paper presents three research projects in medical robotics for pediatrics, namely MRI-compatible robotics for shoulder arthrography, robotic manipulation of the ankle for patients with cerebral palsy, and robotically assisted temporal bone surgery for cochlear implantation. The goal is to show potential application of medical robotics for pediatrics and encourage further development of pediatric specific technology.
