Adaptive fault tolerant control of linearized aircrafts against actuator faults and time-delays

In this paper, the problem of adaptive fault tolerant control for a class of linearized and decoupled aircrafts subject to actuator faults and time-varying delays is investigated. A motion control model of aircrafts is firstly reviewed based on the existing literature. The actuator faults are assumed to be time-varying but bounded, and state errors which caused by bounded time-delays are transformed to a bounded perturbed signal. To eliminate the impacts of actuator faults and time-delays, a compensation scheme is designed by using adaptive technique. Based on Lyapunov stability theory, an asymptotically stable result of the aircrafts is achieved in the cases of actuator faults and time-varying delays. Finally, simulation results of an F-18 aircraft are given to illustrate the proposed procedures and their effectiveness.
