EM propagation measurements and modeling in a hallway at 2.45 GHz

This paper presents indoor propagation measurements taken in a 20-m long hallway at 2.45 GHz. The measurement is able to capture the small-scale variations of the electric field strength. A simple model of the environment is created in FEKO, and the Geometrical Optics (Ray Launching) method is successfully employed to predict the field strengths. The effect of the number of reflections that a ray path undergoes on the accuracy of the simulated data is studied for this particular type of environment. In addition, this paper shows the impact that each main surface considered in the model has on the net field strength. It is shown that both the floor and ceiling have a significant impact on the field strengths, and thus must be included in the model in order to obtain accurate prediction of the electric field strength.
