A Modified Phase Resolving NCO based LSPF-DPLL for wireless communication -comparative analysis with ZC-DPLL

Communication technologies have evolved at a very rapid rate over the last few years with 3G and 4G networks being widely deployed. With 5G already in the reckoning, communication systems which can serve acceptable error rates with minimum delay are the need of the hour. Versatile DPLL based systems find place as modern day communication receivers. Standalone DPLL receivers based on Zero Crossing (ZC) and Least Square Polynomial Fitting (LSPF) Techniques have been recently proposed. Such systems exhibit excellent error performance but show degraded time performance due to intensive computations involved. A Modified Phase Resolving NCO based polynomial fitting DPLL with superior error and time performance as compared to ZC-DPLL is presented here.
