The investigation on bandwidth enhancement of microstrip slot antennas

This paper presents the design of microstrip slot antenna in order to investigate bandwidth enhancement with better return loss. It is observed that the impedance bandwidth can be improved through various slot configurations in microstrip patch antenna. In this study three slots of 25 mm

and 276 mm

are considered on the ground plane for bandwidth enhancement. It is observed that the addition of 25 mm

, 51.5 mm

and 276 mm
²
slot size improves the bandwidth 6.26%, 8.95% and 11.54% respectively. Further it is observed that a multiband (S & C band) microstrip antenna can also be obtained with the slot of 276 mm
²
.
