Two-qubit entanglement generation with trapped ions

Many schemes have been proposed for entangling two trapped-ion qubits. Qubit states are coupled to external motion of the trapped ions through the interaction between the ions and optical fields, which is the key to producing the entanglement. This paper mainly aims to reviewing some typical quantum gates as well as their pros and cons. Distinct schemes by designing dissipative processes are also refered to briefly.
