Photovoltaic cells based on organic composites

In recent years, the intensive investigation and rapid progress of photovoltaic devices based on small molecules and conjugated polymers for renewable energy production can be observed. The reason of this popularity is economics. This technology is probably much cheaper because doesn't need so much energy to produce the starting materials as the classical technology based on silicon. Nowadays, the conception of bulk heterojunction for photovoltaic devices is very promising to other conceptions of PV devices. In this article we reported photovoltaic properties of the organic photovoltaic cells with ITO/PEDOT:PSS/active layer/Al structure based on organic composites. The active layer was a blend of polymer transport matrices -polythiophene derivatives or complex PVK:TCNE and 1H-pyrazolo[3,4-b]quinoline chromophores - (PQ). Current density - voltage (J-V) characteristics of organic PV cells were measured using Keithley 2400 source-meter. The conversion efficiency of PV cells is below 1%.
