Secure Link Establishment Method to Prevent Jelly Fish Attack in MANET

The MANETs and UAV networks would soon replace existing Wireless technology due to its ease to deploy and bare minimum infrastructure requirement and dynamic topology. Emergence of vast high speed hand-held mobile devices, mail delivery drones, drone camera footage of a live cricket match etc, have reserved MANETs/UAVs in the reach of a common man. Therefore, it is imperative to address ubiquitous issues existing in MANETs. This includes safeguard from attacks by intruder nodes, consideration of tradeoffs between speed and efficient communication and selection of a reliable and secure network paradigm. Analysis of the MANETs system from security standpoint is crucial in order to construct a robust and counteractive system. This paper is a study of one such attack called as Jelly Fish (JF) Attack. Attacks can exploit the inherent weakness of MANET. Careful study brings into the foreground the vulnerable attack spot that can be exploited in the existing multicast routing protocols, hence, a more robust and secure algorithm has to be constructed. We have created and analyzed the impact of a jellyfish reorder attack] and the proposed a mechanism to prevent such an attack on ODMRP routing protocol for MANETs. We have used Multicast routing protocol as the routing protocol with the help of standard network simulator called EXata-Cyber. The simulator uses a combination of MANET and UAV network that utilizes ODMRP protocol to carry out a JF reorder attack and its prevention. We have also suggested approaches to mitigate a reordering JF attack on a UAV/MANET network.
