Distributed Cloud Computing Based GIS Solution for Electrical Power Utility Asset Management

Geographical Information Systems provide versatile information with physical locational perspective. Due to their inherent advantages and features, such systems are used almost by every organization however small or large it may be and even by individuals for various purposes. This paper presents a distributed cloud computing based GIS solution for electrical power utility asset management. License free technologies such as MySql, Google API, Fusion Table Database are used in its development. The architecture exploits the strengths of distributed computing model and thus making reliable operation of the application a reality. Important aspects such as data collection and user participation are discussed. Information is collected from different parts of Trinidad and Tobago and results are provided.
