Analysis of Noise of Sensors Mounted on a Submerged Cylindrical Shell Using Waveguide FE/BE Method

Sensors are often mounted on cylindrical shells for searching underwater objects. The sensors are contanminated by the noise generated by vibrations of the shell and their radiation. This paper investigates the noise of sensors induced by the vibrations and their radiation. The vibrations taken into account the fluid-loading effect are analysed using Waveguide Finite Element and Boundary Element Method from which we can obtain the effects of the elastic waves along the cylindrical shell as well as the effect of their radiation. The results are represented and analysed in the form of dispersion diagrams. It follows that the sensor noise is significantly affected not only by the vibrations at their locations but also by the near-field waves of radiation.
