A 5.8 GHz phase- and self-injection-locked CMOS radar sensor chip for vital sign detector miniaturization

A 5.8 GHz phase- and self-injection-locked radar sensor chip is designed and implemented for remote vital sign detector module miniaturization using TSMC 65nm CMOS technology. The chip size is only 0.52mm × 0.58mm. Favorable features including single-antenna operation, on-chip dc level calibration, and RF power and frequency controls are realized. Stable detections of vital signs within the 3 m range are obtained with −8 dBm radiated power and 10 mW power consumption.
