Electromechanical and energetic characteristics of system of induction heating by permanent magnets

To the present times induction systems, realizing heat up by longitudinal alternating magnetic field, have got wide industrial usage for heating workpieces made from non-ferrous metals. Their main disadvantage is low efficiency, which is less than 50%. Installations for induction heating by permanent magnets could provide the value up to 80%. But electromagnetic, electromechanical and thermal processes are poorly investigated in such installations, and design development, and moreover, construction and heating regimes optimization of such installations require deep understanding of them. The present paper discusses performed investigations of electromechanical and energetic characteristics of induction heating system billets made from non-magnetic metals with low specific electrical resistance (aluminum, copper, bronze) by transvers magnetic field of rotated permanent magnets. The investigation is made by numerical simulation in program package ANSYS. Dependencies of released in workpiece active power, acting on the workpiece torque, upon various rotational speeds and geometrical parameters of system "workpiece - magnets system".
