A Reconfigurable Fixed-Point Architecture for Adaptive Beamforming

We present a fixed-point architecture for adaptivebeamforming that optimizes resource consumption by utilizing a Look-Up-Table (LUT) approach suitable for FPGA designs. Thehardware design is fully customized and allows the user to switchto different beam patterns and adapt hardware resources torequirements on accuracy. Experimental results are veryencouraging as they show the design to be highly resilient to theeffects of input quantization and the use of fixed-point arithmetic. We report results in terms of resource usage, execution time, andaccuracy for various design parameters.
