Information channel theory for traffic control

Information theory in the context of urban traffic jams can give solutions in order to improve the quality of life. Collecting data using sensor networks or imaging radar will help to optimize the traffic management control and traffic guidance system. In urban areas it is important to detect the direction which has to be chosen by the cars in the crowded intersections. By having this information, the lights from the measured intersection can be correlated with the movement of the vehicles - this needs considerable computational resources. Here, the information channel theory is used to describe and propose solutions for traffic control.
