Analysis of the performance of an acquisition algorithm for Galileo E1 signals

Galileo, the future European Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), is designed to transmit Open Service navigation signals within the L band, in the E1 subband. Europe launched its first two operational satellites for Galileo on 21 October 2011. Since then it has launched four additional satellites into orbit. In total, Galileo will consist of 30 satellites, control centers located in Europe, and a network of sensor stations and uplink stations installed around the globe [11]. As of 17

of December 2015, there are 12 satellites in the Galileo constellation. Initial Galileo services are scheduled to begin in 2016, according to the European Commission and the European GNSS Agency. This will increase the need for further developments in GNSS User segment. It is forecasted that the navigation services provided by Galileo will be used by a growing number of users worldwide. This work addresses the domain of Galileo user receivers. This paper analyzes the performance of an acquisition algorithm in different visible constellation scenarios.
