Design of a 500 kV pulse generator with the rise time of nanosecond level

An electromagnetic pulse (EMP) generator with output voltage of 500 kV is designed. It mainly consists of three parts, a low inductance Marx generator, a gas-sealed peaking circuit and a trigger source. PSPICE simulation of the generator is shown in this paper. The Marx generator uses a series circuit and charged by a ±50 kV high voltage DC source. A peaking part is utilized to steep the rise time of the output of Marx generator.
