A kind of HEMP simulator based on low-frequency-compensated TEM horn antenna

A kind of low-frequency-compensated TEM horn antenna is proposed to simulate High-altitude Electromagnetic Pulse (HEMP). With CST Microwave Studio, simulation model is created to analyze the performance of the simulator. According to the results, the simulator exhibits cardioid pattern in low frequency, which means it is well directional. The performance of electromagnetic environment near the aperture of the TEM horn in time and frequency domain is contrasted with the requirements of HEMP simulator in IEC 61000-4-25[1], which indicates that the low-frequency-compensated TEM horn antenna could be designed as a kind of device level HEMP simulator.
