Strategy to optimize the load shedding amount based on static voltage stability using SFLA

This paper proposes a memetic meta-heuristic algorithm for optimize load-shedding at selected load buses of the system under emergency condition accounting equality and inequality constraints. Load shedding is considered as the last line of defense when exhausting the limit of rescheduling of reactive and real power control variables. Minimum eigenvalue of load flow Jacobian is selected as a proximity indicator which monitors the status of the system. Load buses are ranked based on sensitivity of proximity indicator and load buses selected for load-shedding which has large sensitivity. The amount of load to be shed (active & reactive load) at load bus has been optimized using Shuffled Frog Leaping Algorithm (SFLA), algorithm & compared with CAPSO and Gradient Search (GS) techniques. Developed methodology has been implemented on IEEE 30-bus test system.
