Utilization analysis of interdependent gas and electricity energy infrastructures within distribution networks

Nowadays, most customer demands are supplied through the different energy networks independently. One solution to tackle the growing energy demands and emission production is utilization of different energy networks dependently. Efficient utilization of coupled energy networks either reduces requirements of establishing new power plants or transmission pipelines with tremendous investment costs. Utilization of interconnected energy networks is also beneficial for electric distribution networks companies such as power loss reduction and power system reliability enhancement. Innovative technologies such as Combined Heat and Power (CHP) streamlines interconnection of the different energy networks such as electricity, gas, heat, and cooling. In this paper, effectiveness of coupled electricity and gas networks are considered through Energy Hub (EH) approach. EH simplifies integration and utilization of different energy infrastructures. Effect of coupled electricity and gas networks on operation costs, emission, loss and load factors are taken into account. The results demonstrate the paramount role of interconnected energy networks on reduction of operation costs, emission, loss and load factors.
