Visualization concept for the operational planning process considering probabilistic forecasts

Acceptance of innovative tools for operational planning and control of electrical transmission systems depends significantly on the presentation and traceability of their results. Since transmission system planners and operators are currently familiar with deterministic forecasts only, the implementation of an innovative tool considering probabilistic forecasts to support the operational planning process of transmission system operation requires a sound and appropriate concept for the visualization of its results. Such a probabilistic operational planning process could e.g. be used for risk-based assessments of potential future system states, Therefore, an analysis of the processing of complex data and information by the human mind has been carried out. Subsequently, a concept for the displaying of relevant output considering the theoretical background as well as the characteristics of the information is presented.
