Novel adaptive delta modulation controller for Interleaved Boost DC-DC converters

This paper proposes an Interleaved Boost DC-DC converter suitable for renewable energy applications. The proposed converter utilizes a novel adaptive delta modulation to control the pulse generator. A thorough and effective analysis of the converter is carried out in order to achieve the required system stability and to improve the dynamic performance. The output response characteristics obtained by this method is very much improved compared to the conventional PWM and simplified sigma delta modulation control schemes. Simulation results are presented to illustrate the advantages of the proposed scheme. The performance of the DC/DC converter system with Adaptive Delta Modulation (ADM) control loop provides a number of features that do not exist in today's electrical systems such as very vast response. All the advantages of interleaving, including higher efficiency and reduced ripple for voltage and current are all maintained in the proposed converter.
