Effects of Required Coefficient of Friction for Female in Different Gait

The aim of this study was investigate the effects of required coefficient of friction (RCOF) in level walking and stair climbing (ascending and descending) in different gait ways. We recruited eight healthy female adult subjects to join our experiment. The RCOF of the subjects walked on the level walkway and the stair with barefoot and wearing lab shoes in full stride and half stride were analyzed using a Bertec® force plate. Descriptive statistics, two-way ANOVA and correlation analyses were adopted to analyze the data. The results showed that the RCOF of stair climbing was higher than level walking condition whether the subjects were barefoot or shod. The RCOFs of full stride were higher than half stride.
