Photocatalytic electrolyzer prototype based in a material using TiO2-Pt

₂
-Pt photocatalysts have been synthesized by a sol-gel proccess microwave-assisted and characterized by means of several techniques (Scanning electron microscopy (SEM), powder X-ray diffraction (XRD), and Raman spectroscopic techniques) and used in the hydrogen generation under UV irradiation at room temperature. Crystals of anatase phase (size about 24 nm) was obtained, as confirmed by XRD. The morphology is regular and agglomerates are formed as the dopant (SEM) is added. TiO
₂
-Pt material was used to make electrodes (working and counter), for his use in a photocatalytic electrolizar for the production of hydrogen, the first UV tests were successful, the material can produce hydrogen. The material will be tested in different concentrations (Pt) in the electrochemical cell to obtain a relationship between the cost and the production of hydrogen.
