FEM analysis and design of an electromechanical converter with dual stator windings and flexible wave rotor

The paper presents construction, control and simulation of a new type of electromechanical converter with dual stator windings and flexible wave rotor (ECFR). The flexible wave rotor (FWR) made of ferromagnetic material with 0.2mm thickness is deformed under the action of electromagnetic forces. It was created an experimental model to highlight its main advantage, which consist in a low speed of rotation without using mechanical gears. For the ECFR control has been used a programmable logic controller (PLC) through which has changed, in a specified domain, the stator pairs of poles switching period. The angular velocity of the rotor as function of the stator pairs of poles switching period is presented. To establish the influence of the flexible wave rotor thickness and radial air-gap value on the magnetic force of attraction (MFA) a FEM analysis has been conducted. The results will be used to optimize the ECFR construction.
