Broadband phase detector as microwave correlator

The correlation methods for signal receiving are widely used due to wideband electronics systems development. This technique gives high improvements for device features. Correlation methods are nowadays used in microwave metrology, radiolocation, medicine and in military applications in particular. In this place it should be mentioned: FMCW radars, noise radars, direction finding systems for electromagnetic radiation sources. In medicine it is measurement possibility for human living features, that as breath or heartbeat. In radiolocation this one is used for special applications, that as through the cover observation (the building wall for example) or ground penetration. The detector circuit consist of four 3dB, 180° hybrid couplers, phase shifter and four microwave detectors. Wide band of signal correlation about fg/fd = 3, it is obtained due to working in microwave band and using Shottky diodes as multiplying elements. Proposed phase detector can be used as the wideband correlator for microwave signals.
