Imaging sensor and imaging algorithms for quality inspection of flexible materials

The measurement of dark measurement objects with difficult surface characteristics is always a challenging task. Especially the measurement of pipes which cannot be measured in transmitted light conditions will lead to complicated situations during the image processing and the ongoing feature detection. In this paper two different methods will be presented which will overcome this problem. A quality control after the feature extraction the outer and inner diameter as well as the thickness of the insulation pipes is also presented. At the end both methods were evaluated using measurement process capability values. To find the best conditions for the imaging and measurement task a measurement set up using a multispectral camera as well as using an adjustable illumination was developed and promoted in this article.
