An Implementation of Visualization System for Vehicles and Pedestrians

Recently, by development of information and communication technology, devices with communication functions have been equipped at vehicles and roads. A car navigation system, a Vehicle Information and Communication System (VICS), and an Electronic Toll Collection System (ETC) are one of the examples of these systems. By using these systems, it is possible to get route information of destination, decrease traffic congestion, or automatically collect freeway toll. Meanwhile, in the traffic accident, there is a case that a driver and pedestrian cannot recognize vehicles and pedestrians hidden by a building. Although many researches which avoid a traffic accident by using vehicle to vehicle communications are performed, currently, there is no visualization system which can recognize vehicles and pedestrians hidden by a building. In this paper, we propose a visualization system which can recognize vehicles and pedestrians hidden by a building. The proposed system constructs ad-hoc networks by nodes which equipped vehicles and pedestrians and shares location information each other. Moreover, we show effectiveness of the proposed visualization system by experiments which use real machines.
