Dual Marching Squares: Description and analysis

A new variant on the Marching Squares isocontouring method is introduced. This variant, the Dual Marching Squares, is the 2D analogue of the Dual Marching Cubes. It is the dual of Marching Squares, taking as its contour segment vertices the midpoints of the Marching Squares isocontour. Experimental analyses of the Dual Marching Squares are also presented. The analyses focus on examining its shape-preserving properties, especially in comparison to the standard Marching Squares.
