Coraline hydroxyapatite as a bone substitute to enhance spinal fusion

The effect on fusion process of coraline hydroxyapatite was evaluated and compared with autologous bone graft in a posterior spinal fusion procedure in rabbit model. Results demonstrated that coraline hydroxyapatite and autograft have equivalent effect in enchancing fusion mass formation in posterior spinal fusion. Coraline hydroxyapatite in combination with autogenous bone marrow has superior effect in enchancing fusion mass formation than hydroxyapatite alone or autograft.
