$I_{c}$–Strain Performance of $RE\text{BCO}$ Coated-Conductor Tapes Under Low Magnetic Field

Coated conductor (CC) tapes have the potential for magnet applications and could be utilized to achieve a much higher held as compared with low-temperature superconductors with a broader operating temperature range. However, due to its tape shape, the coiling procedure presents some problems such as severe bending and twisting. These factors may signihcantly degrade its electrical performance if not properly controlled. Therefore, electromechanical properties evaluation is necessary for performance characterization and predictability under strain during coiling and magnet operation. under low magnetic held was evaluated at 77 K at different held angle orientations. The Ic-strain responses of different rare-earth Ba
₂
Cu
₃
O
_y
(REBCO) CC tapes with and without artihcial pinning centers were compared. As a result, the I
_c
-strain behavior of reactive coevaporation by deposition and reaction GdBa
₂
Cu
₃
O
_y
CC tapes at self-held were comparable to the behavior when the low external held was oriented parallel to the ab-plane. Furthermore, the strain sensitivity of I
_c
under low magnetic held with the angle orientation was also comparable to the I
_c
response under varying magnetic held. However, in the case of metal-organic chemical vapor deposition GdBCO CC tapes with artihcial pinning centers, a different strain sensitivity behavior of I
_c
with the held angle under 0.5 T was observed.
