Guest Editorial Emerging Topics in Multiple-Valued Logic and Its Applications

The papers in this special section focus on emerging concepts in multiple-valued logic (MVL). MVL is considered by some to be the study of logic systems that process more than two values. In logic circuits, raising the number of logic values leads to more-efficient use of interconnect and logic device area, at a cost in degraded noise margin and reduced tolerance to process variations. Many consider that MVL also includes binary logic, albeit realized in unconventional ways.
