Improved analysis of dispersion characteristics of a high permittivity rectangular dielectric waveguide

New and simple analytical methods for propagation constants of a high permittivity rectangular dielectric waveguide are presented. At first, we determine an infinite number of candidates for eigenvalue pair (k/sub x/,k/sub y/) by eigenvalue equation derived from main electromagnetic fields of the mode. Next, we select a correct eigenvalue pair by minimizing a discontinuity of secondary components on the boundaries. Our numerical results show a good agreement with that of previous numerical methods even for high permittivity.
