Design of a solar powered LED lighting system using the dual axis tracking system

During the past few years, researchers and technology of solar energy have progressed immensely. Energy is abundant in the earth and the source is the sun. This paper focuses on small scale outdoor lighting systems. This is a stand-alone lighting system that gets power from the sun by using a solar module during daytime. It has automatic switching and dimmer photosensor that operates when there is no light from the sun detected. However, storing more energy in the battery is one challenge. Currents of high value that is enough to charge the battery safely is required and depends on the amount of light energy from the sun. Stationary modules will only have maximum current at noon. The researchers included a tracker system to follow the sun's position so the current is higher throughout the day. To know which design is better, the researchers conducted a test that determines the performance of with tracker and without a tracker. Another test will be conducted regarding with the dimmer. The energy consumption of the LED light will be observed by using without dimmer and with dimmer. The result shows that current boosts the charging when tracker is ON. Dual axis trackers can compensate for the energy used by the motors for tracking. The auto-dimmer saves the charge used in the battery while supplying the appropriate light in the surrounding.
