Abstract:

To prevent line outage contingencies which are the most severe disturbance impact on voltage stability is the most important issue in a PMU placement problem. We focus on the line outage contingencies PMU placement problem and are the first to propose a decomposition-coordination approach. The original problem with thousands of constraints are decomposed by Alternating Direction Method of Multipliers (ADMM) and coordinate pre-contingency and post-contingency scenarios in between. To illustrate the effectiveness, the proposed method has been performed on the IEEE 14-bus, 39-bus, 57-bus, 118-bus, and 300-bus test systems.
