Design and simulation tools for integrated optic circuits

We present the recent trends in the development of design and simulation tools for integrated optical circuits. We will address the relevant design steps, required to finish a typical design cycle, such as technology simulations, optical simulations, and mask layout, as well as the vertical integration of these steps. A specific example is given with respect to the design process for a thermo-optical switch.
