Home-based therapy of chronic stroke survivors' Upper limb assisted by a finger movement tracking device

Wearable tracking systems for monitoring hand movement are very important to track the function of stroke survivors' impaired hand during daily life activities and can be used as rehabilitation systems at home. This paper discusses the importance of home-based upper extremity rehabilitation and investigates the opportunity of using a novel hand glove device in this context. A finger movement evaluation device was developed to assist in monitoring the use of impaired hand during home-based interventions. The device was used in a home-based training intervention for two weeks. Clinical results of the intervention showed significant improvement in functional movement after training.
