Evaluation of detecting the breaking of wires on medium-voltage system by three-phase sensors

Distribution Automation system has been operated as a part of smart grids of Kansai Electric Power Co. for 25 years. Authors have developed and evaluated a new function on the system. This paper describes the function of detecting the breaking of wires on medium-voltage (6.6kV) system with three-phase sensors installed in a sectionalizing switchgear.
