Analysis and design of photonic crystal based demultiplexer

In this paper, two dimensional photonic crystal ring resonator based demultiplexer is proposed and its characteristics, namely, transmission efficiency, Q factor, resonant wavelength and crosstalk are investigated. The demultiplexing is done by altering the structural parameter values of the structure such as radius of the rod, lattice constant and refractive index of the rod. The output response of the PC based demultiplexer is obtained using two dimensional Finite Difference Time Domain (FDTD) methods and the photonic band gap is obtained by Plane Wave Expansion (PWE) method. As the designed PC based demultiplexer is much smaller than the conventional demultiplexer. Hence it could be useful to implement in Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs).
