Performance Measurement on DTTB Systems

This chapter provides the measurement procedure and compares the performance of ATSC, DVB-T, ISDB-T, and DTMB transmission standards under different interference conditions. It presents a general description of the system-level performance test, including the physical meaning of the test content, test methodologies, and test requirements. To obtain the comprehensive performance of a DTTB system, rigorous laboratory tests and open-circuit tests should be carried out not only for the transmitters but also for the receiver. The bit error rate (BER) test is a very important measurement for the DTTB system and is one of the most common metrics of coverage and signal quality. Carrier-to-noise ratio (C/N) is an important parameter to measure DTTB system performance. The DTMB system is used as an example of a laboratory test for illustration purposes. The field test items must receive DTV signals along different routes to evaluate mobile reception performance.
