Measurement of sterilization ability and reactive species of various gas plasma bubbled-up water

Recently, various sterilization methods using atmospheric non-thermal plasma have been studied. Plasma generates reactive species that contributes to the sterilization. Most of the previous studies were reported that water treated by plasma irradiation (plasma treated water) shows sterilization ability. In these experiments, plasma is irradiated to the water surface from above. Therefore, this method is inefficient because the contact area between the plasma and the water is limited. Additionally, a lot of reactive species such as hydroxyl radical (HO·), singlet oxygen (

) are not generated by helium or argon plasma.
